The country imported $120 million worth of dairy, beef and poultry productsThe Philippines is an emerging market for halal products due to its growing Muslim population, according to a recent US Department of Agriculture Global Agricultural Information Network (USDA-GAIN) report.
Additionally, the country is positioning itself as a halal food processing hub for export to other countries and regions with significant Muslim populations.
In 2022, the Philippines imported $120 million worth of halal products, including dairy products, beef, poultry meat and products, glucose syrup, and animal fats. Notably, more than 40% of these imports originated in the United States.
These factors present an opportunity for US suppliers seeking to enter the lucrative global halal market.
