USDA criticized for BSE policy
US - R-CALF official says Agriculture Department sometimes follows its policy, but other times withholds information important to industry. A national cattle organization is asking the United States Department of Agriculture why the agency is not abiding by its own policy of maintaining transparency with regard to announcements of inconclusive results regarding tests for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Gov. Mike Johanns, who was nominated to be the next secretary of agriculture Thursday by President Bush, has also been critical of the USDA's inconclusive BSE testing policy.Source: The Independent.com
