National cattle group files supplemental BSE comments with USDA

US - According to Bill Bullard, R-CALF USA CEO, the reason R-CALF USA submitted the supplemental comments "is to ensure that USDA also consider even more recent developments regarding BSE." One of those developments, according to Bullard, is the newest scientific study showing how prions (the infectious agent of diseases such as bovine spongiform encephalopathy, sheep scrapie and chronic wasting disease) can permeate the human intestinal tract.
