The UK's Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) recently launched Medicine Hub for dairy, beef and sheep farmers. The tool will allow farmers to monitor and compare medicine use. It is thought that being able to benchmark against their peers will help farmers lower use. The long-term to minimise the risk antimicrobial resistance.

A cross-industry online tool, Medicine Hub allows producers to better understand medicine use over time in a safe, secure and independent central repository. According to AHDB, collating and comparing antibiotic use at individual farm level helps improve the health and welfare of animals, lift productivity, and save money. Measuring and monitoring at an industry level improves as more farmers use the tool. This, in turn, improves the industry's rapport with policy makers, supply chains and consumers.

AHDB launched an equivalent scheme for pigs in 2016. Data for 95% of UK pig production is now recorded centrally.
