Mexicans Expect 12 Per Cent Beef Export Surge
MEXICO – Mexican beef exports are expected to lift 12 per cent in 2015 as the number of federally inspected animals continues to grow.Shipment estimates are for 160,000 tonnes to be exported, says the Mexican Association of Cattle Feedlots (AMEG).
Last year, Mexico exported 143,000 tonnes of beef.
Numbers of cattle passing through the Federal Inspection System have increased 46 per cent in ten years, rising from 1.4 million to 2.7 million head of cattle annually, says a press release from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (SAGARPA).
