Vets Descend on Tasmania to Discuss Sheep, Cattle Health

11 February 2015

AUSTRALIA – Veterinarians are flocking to Tasmania this week to flesh out what the cattle and sheep industries need to improve health and productivity.

Latest trends in veterinary practice will be showcased, including management and treatment strategies for a broad range of disease, health and welfare issues.

Australian Cattle Veterinarians President Dr Enoch Bergman said that the conference highlights the important role vets play in helping producers to take care of their animals’ health and welfare and improve productivity.

“As the professional experts on cattle and sheep health and welfare, veterinarians play an indispensable role in ensuring the health of our livestock industries,” said Dr Bergman. “We are passionately engaged in improving our client’s bottom line and in helping them to optimise welfare outcomes for their livestock.

“Vets also contribute to the health of Australians through our role in food safety, biosecurity and quarantine systems.”

Over 230 technicians are expected to attend the conference, hosted by Australian Cattle Veterinarians and the Australian Sheep Veterinarians, two groups within the Australian Veterinary Association.
