El Nino Outlook Neutral for Australia

AUSTRALIA – The chance of an El Nino is at 50 per cent, which is still double the normal likelihood, says the Bureau of Meteorology.

Tropical Pacific Ocean temperature is warmer than the six month average, but weather experts say it has not reached El Nino levels yet.

Readings from the latest Southern Oscillation Index returned -4.3, with values below -8 indicative of an El Nino.
