Cattle coming into feedyards through April were worth 5.7 per cent more than in March, according to the Centre for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (CEPEA).

Meanwhile, meat consumption has fallen, making a dent in the retail and deadweight value of beef.

Data from the Brazilian Cattle Feeders Association (Assocon) has highlighted feeder intentions to increase the number of cattle on feed by 15 per cent for the first quarter of the year.
