MAURITANIA - An outbreak of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia has been reported in Kaedi, Mauritania.

The affected cattle belong to a Senegalese farmer in transhumance in Mauritania. The herd had not been vaccinated for five years.
Of the 350 cattle susceptible, the outbreak affected 11.
The source of the outbreak is thought to be due to the introduction of new live animals.
Herds in contact with the infected herd are now being vaccinated against contagious bovine pleuropneumonia. Cattle within a 15-km radius have been identified and their vaccination is on-going.
