GERMANY – If the European Commission banned cloning, there would be no adverse impact to cattle farming, says the German Farmers Association (DBV).

Draft legislation from Brussels shall prohibit animal cloning in food production and imports of such stock within the EU.

The DVB has supported the announcement although added that, as cloning plays no role in food production, nothing will change.

In a statement, the DBV said: “A powerful and sustainable meat and milk production without cloning technology is definitely possible.

The DBV added: “Meat and milk from conventionally bred offspring of cloned animals would not differ according to scientifically proven knowledge of the foods that are produced by non-cloned animals.”
