JBS Mercosul Appoints Gularte as New President

BRAZIL - Miguel Gularte has been appointed as the new president of Brazilian meat processing giant JBS Mercosul.

The move follows the company's strategy to strengthen its executive.

Mr Gularte has extensive experience in the beef industry.

He is a graduate of veterinary medicine and has 32 years’ experience in the meat sector.

He began his career in Industrial Cooperative Meat and Derivatives (cicade) and has held various positions as Manager of Quality Control Manager and Manufacturing Director.

In 1996, he moved to Uruguay where he joined the fridge PUL, where he served as Commercial Director, Chief Executive Officer and President. In 2011, Michael led the sale of PUL part of Minerva Foods.

He then became international vice-president at Minerva, a position he held until June 2013.
