Abergavenny Cattle Market Campaigners Unveil Plans
UK - A CAMPAIGN group has unveiled drawings to support a proposal to retain Abergavenny livestock market.According to South Wales Argus, members of Keep Abergavenny Livestock Market (KALM) are opposing the closure of the market and its relocation to Bryngwyn, near Raglan.
The drawings, together with an eight-page manifesto, present the group’s vision for the site, despite Monmouthshire council’s cabinet voting to sell the site as a whole to a supermarket operator.
KALM members Barry Greennwood and Jenny Long unveiled the drawings, which aim to retain and remodel the market through private investors, at a series of meetings held in village halls for the farming community last week.
"The plan provides not only for a refurbished and modernised livestock market, but also provides brand new amenities for everyone such as a public meeting space and covered walkway with space for market traders," said Mr Greenwood.
"This is not a blueprint but its aim is to get people thinking imaginatively."
"It illustrates what could be achieved by the regeneration of the four acre site," he added.
