Food producers who use the new web-based system to initiate their potential participation in the certification program will automatically receive relevant information, including species-specific animal welfare standards and contract language.

Interested parties simply go to American Humane Certified website at www.thehumanetouch.org and click on the "New Producer Application" button.

American Humane Certified continues to enlist more and more food producers in its humane monitoring and labelling programme, which was the first in the United States and is, by far, the fastest growing and most comprehensive.

The programme is science-based and solutions-oriented, and American Humane works cooperatively with industry to arrive at humane, compassionate methods and practices for food-animal growing and production.

American Humane Certified offers a three-tiered audit programme called True Humane Tracking that provides food producers and retailers the highest level of accountability and transparency with an independent, third-party auditing process.

True Humane Tracking includes comprehensive annual on-site audits and ongoing audit updates and monitoring through online compliance resources and state-of-the-art, web-based independent video feeds that provide 24/7 real-time monitoring that includes instant alerts to producers and American Humane about issues, so corrective action can be taken immediately.

American Humane Certified also recently announced an online Humane Care Training Programme for food producers in educating their employees, growers and contractors who handle animals. The training complements and expands the auditing and certification process.
