International panel says BSE is a North American issue

An outside, international panel that has reviewed USDA's response to the finding of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in a Washington state dairy cow, made its report to the USDA Advisory Committee today. They have advised USDA to end the investigation, and redirect resources to building an extended, targeted surveillance program and other measures to protect human health.
