U.S. Asks 75 Trading Partners to Lift Ban on U.S. Beef
US - The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Friday it has asked Japan and 74 other trading partners to lift the bans they placed on U.S. beef after the discovery of mad cow disease in Washington State. The department's chief veterinarian, Ron DeHaven, said in letters sent to his counterparts abroad that the result of his department's investigation into mad cow disease shows U.S. beef is safe to eat.Source: Miami Herald
