More pressure for the prime cattle trade

The cattle trade once again came under pressure, continuing to demonstrate that processors remain firmly in the driving seat. In week ended 16 April the GB prime cattle average price was back another 3p on the week earlier at 313.4p/kg. It has now fallen more than 20p/kg since the start of the year. R4L steers and heifers both came back 3p on the week to average 324.1p/kg and 324.4p/kg respectively. In contrast, young bulls regained some of the ground that they lost the week earlier, gaining 6p to average 296.9p/kg.
