Bluetongue Cattle Deaths Rise in Romania

ROMANIA – Eight more Romanian farms have been confirmed with Bluetongue this week.

Small holdings in the west of the country have reported mostly single cases of the virus, killing one cow.

The exception was a cattle herd near Campeni in Alba where two deaths were reported.

Movement restriction are in place, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health.

The strain, serotype four, has a calculated morbidity rate of over 34 per cent, largely hitting the regions of Hunedoara and Arad.
