Official Laboratories To Issue Dicyandiamide Certification on Powder

SRI LANKA - Companies importing milk powder must obtain official laboratory certification to prove their products are free of dicyandiamide (DCD), the Health Ministry has announced.

The Food Advisory Committee headed by the Director General of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala has come to this decision after studying the situation which cropped up with regard to imported milk powder being contaminated with DCD.

Dr. Paalitha Maheepaala said that a sub-committee has also been appointed to carry out further tests to check on the presence of DCD in packeted milk powder available in sales outlets.
