JBS Appoints President Of Mercosul Operations

BRAZIL - Brazilian based beef and meat processor JBS SA has appointed José Augusto de Carvalho Júnior as president of the Company´s operations in Mercosul.

José Augusto is a graduate from the Military Engineering Institute (IME) and has been with JBS for the past six years.

His last position in the Company was president of Pilgrim´s Pride in Mexico.

He has vast professional experience and a 15 year career in the petrochemical (Esso and Shell) and steel (CSN) industries.

As president of Mercosul operations, José Augusto will be responsible for the beef, leather, new businesses, special projects and cost/targets management divisions in Brazil and for JBS´ operations in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Vigor, the company´s dairy division, whose president is Gilberto Xandó, will continue to report directly to Wesley Mendonça Batista, CEO of JBS SA.

The company said that the new presidency represents another important step in JBS SA´s ongoing process of professionalisation and will open a new opportunity for the Company to continue with its goal to obtain synergy gains and increase its efficiency, thus presenting better results for its shareholders.
