Dutch legislation currently allows the killing of calves, lighter than 36 pounds, as the indsutry claims they have no economic value.

36 pounds is the minimum weight a calf should be, if kept for meat consumption.

The recently resigned KNMVD minister asked to what extent is the killing of commercially kept animals, which are not economically viable, ethically acceptable?
