Thai Livestock Dept. Aids Farmers in Nakorn Phanom

THAILAND - Deputy Director-General of the Livestock Department Thanit Anekwit traveled to distribute hay and animal feed to farmers raising animals in Sri Songkram district of Nakorn Panom province as they are currently afflicted by flood situations.

The particular district is located in a valley like area and is surrounded by three major waterways which flow toward the Mekong River.

Heavy rains since early in the month have flooded areas used by farmers to allow their animals to graze. Over 8000 rai of animal raising land in 8 tambon have been affected.

A total of 2,210 animals live in the areas comprising of 1,200 cows and 1,000 buffalo. The livestock department has contributed 40 tons of hay and dried grass to aid them at this time.
