UKRAINE - Ukrainian agricultural officials say they are hopeful that a forthcoming inspection by Russian veterinary officials of Ukrainian meat processing plants will result in four or five of these plants being allowed to export to the Russian market, according to Baltic Business News.

A total of 25 Ukrainian meat processors have already been inspected by Russian inspectors.

To restore the status quo, 30-35 Ukrainian plants must be allowed to export meat to Russia, said Ukrainian officials.

Russia banned meat imports from Ukraine on January 20, in a move that would cost Ukrainian meat producers an estimated USD12-15 million a month.
