CANADA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has detected potential mad cow disease in a Manitoba cow. The reassuring news for consumers is that no part of the animal entered the food chain. The animal, a mature crossbred beef cow was born before 1997 when the feed ban came into effect in Canada. Samples of the dead cow have been sent to the National Centre for Foreign Animal Disease in Winnipeg for more tests.
