Report faults testing of feed to prevent mad cow disease

US - The government started testing livestock feed two years ago to ensure that mills were following rules to prevent the spread of mad cow disease, but officials failed to properly follow up on suspect samples, congressional investigators say. As a result of the lax oversight by the Food and Drug Administration, the tests can't be used to verify how well feed mills are complying with the feed restrictions, according to a report by the Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress.
