Experts Monitor FMD Outbreak in Russian Cattle

RUSSIA - Experts from the Trans-Baikal Territory in the east of Russia are managing restrictive measures to prevent the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in cattle.

Earlier in March, laboratory tests at the Federal Centre for Animal Health of samples of pathological material taken from cattle discovered genes and antigens from the FMD virus type A.

The cattle belonged to citizens living near the town of Molodezhninskoe, in the Priargunsky District.
