Brazilian Beef Getting Safer
BRAZIL – University research shows that Brazilian beef is becoming safer as the number of cattle slaughtered without sanitary inspection falls.

Over 90 per cent of slaughtered cattle were inspected in 2012, much higher than in previous decades.
This is according to a data analysis by the Centre for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (CEPEA), which attributed improvements to ‘positive changes’ within the cattle industry.
Strengthening within Brazil’s legal sanitary structure, including technological advances and management within the industry were underlined.
In its analysis, CEPEA found several countries well below and above the average level. Minas Gerais had 15.2 per cent and Para was 12.2 per cent for non-inspected beef.
Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Goias all had non-inspection figures of between five and six per cent.
