As a result, National Meat Institute President, Alfredo Fratti has outlined the importance of beef product quality.

“Our beef must be known for juiciness and tenderness,” stated Mr Fratti. “Quality is like a multi-storey building – the more beef we export the better the foundation we need.”

This foundation includes less objective things such as meat quality and encompasses environmental, welfare and fair trade aspects.

“The first foundation of consumer confidence to a product such as beef is animal health. The second key foundation building is the Safety Quality. It is not enough that the animal is healthy.

“Job conditions in the industry, hygiene in transportation and marketing premises must meet the highest standard to ensure that the final product is safe and secure.”
