Argentinean Beef Exports Down in July

ARGENTINA - July beef exports are down two per cent compared to the same period last year.

Beef exports in July fell 23 per cent year-on-year to 9,353 tonnes. This was driven by a fall in exports to Russia, Venezuela and the US.

Between January and July 2012, Argentina exported 69,000 tonnes of beef to export markets. The main markets included Israel and Chile, with a share of 21 per cent of the export market. Germany was the third largest importer of Argentine beef, taking 19 per cent of total exports.

Economic problems in Europe, affected the prices received for high value cuts, which were two per cent lower than last .

Prices improved in Chile, by 16 per cent, with the average shipment being valued at $6,300 per ton.
