With the implementation of the government’s ‘Sex Semen Yojana (scheme)’, the ‘X’ and ‘Y’ chromosomes would be produced which would make it possible to get the cattle of desired sex, state Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Hardip Kumar, told Thaindian.com.

He told cattle breeders and farmers at Hisar, this was being done under a veterinary scheme formulated to produce the cattle of a desired sex.

Secretary Kumar said that in the first phase of the scheme, the semen would be imported and later on it would be produced within the country. Haryana is known for the high milk-yielding Murrah breed of cattle.
