Drought in Kenya Causes Livestock to Die

KENYA - As an unrelentless drought siezes Kenya for the third year, stock and game die, leaving farmers with little choice but to abandon their days of herding cattle. A report by John Vidal, of The Guardian enlightens us to the real effects of climate change.

Droughts have spread across Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, Chad and into other areas of Africa, not only leaving no pasture for cattle but also no drinking water for civilians, according to The Guardian newspaper in the UK. Those cattle herders who customarily travel thousands of miles a year in search of water, recently unsuccessfully, have given up.

The shortage of water, resulting in a low supply of food, has caused food prices to double.
