INDIA - The root-cause of all mayhem witnessed in Mangalore and surrounding areas from Wednesday was traced again to illegal transportation of cattle to abattoirs.

Incidentally, leaders at the helm of affairs and men who command respect from their communities in DK district had realised the negative potential of transporting cattle illegally to slaughterhouses as early in March 2005.
Ironically a platform created to address core issues like cattle transportation that threatened communal harmony in DK district was never sustained in public interest.
The forum, backed by IGP (Western Range) H N S Rao and DC, aimed at redressing core issues including illegal transportation of cattle and identifying illegal slaughter houses in order to diffuse communal tensions.
